"Iron Pen" Drabble Contest

Iron Pen is a fanfiction contest that takes place entirely at the convention. During the scheduled hour, contestants write a 100-word "drabble" based on a surprise prompt item. The entries are judged during the convention, and the winner is announced at Closing Ceremonies. If you don't have time to prepare a full-length story for the main fanfiction contest, Iron Pen is the contest for you!

All submitted entries will be assembled into a PDF file, which will be made available on the Anime Detour website after the convention.

Contest Rules

1. Entries must be written at the convention, during the hour scheduled for the event. Do not attempt to write your entry in advance. Writing on the spur of the moment is half the fun!
2. Entries must be works of fanfiction based on a source that is Japanese in origin. Anime, manga, video game, and live-action sources are all acceptable. Crossovers are acceptable if all the sources used are Japanese.
3. Entries must be exactly 100 words in length, no more, no less. Hyphenated words (with the exception of honorifics) will be counted as multiple words.
4. Entries must not exceed a PG-13 rating. This means no excessive vulgar language, extreme violence, or explicit sexual content.
5. Entries must be clearly related to the prompt item.
6. Each contestant is limited to one entry.

Submission Instructions

The time and place of the event will be listed in the programming guide. Anyone who attends may enter the contest. Just show up and bring your creative genius!
